A plunge into art: the historic marbled papers of Conti Borbone

At our Conti Borbone bookbinding workshop, we are proud to preserve a fascinating artistic tradition: the production of hand-marbled papers. From our historic collection, we are extrapolating some of the most striking creations, featuring unique designs that capture the essence of the artisanal process.

These marbled papers are born from an ancient technique that combines the artistic gesture with the fluidity of water. The artist distributes the colors on the surface of the water in a basin, letting the natural movements create inimitable patterns. Each paper is a one-of-a-kind work of art, where the artisan's touch and the dance of color come together in perfect balance.

To further enhance these works, we will frame them and sell them as one-of-a-kind pieces. Each marbled paper will be marked with a Conti Borbone embossing stamp, guaranteeing its authenticity and uniqueness. We are excited to announce that they will soon be available for purchase on our website, offering everyone the chance to own a timeless piece of art, created with passion and craftsmanship.

I am Angelo Marchesi, a bookbinder following in the footsteps of my family, who owns the Bookbinding Conti Borbone, founded over a hundred years ago. My passion is to preserve and enhance ancient books, restoring them with care and respect. I also enjoy creating new volumes, personalized and original, using high-quality materials and traditional techniques. Bookbinding, for me, is an art that demands dedication, creativity, and precision.
